Our Story — From a Dad
Hi, I'm Ramone. I'm a dad, I live, and like most parents, I was tired of the same evening debate: “Whose turn is it to wash the dishes? Who is supposed to take out the trash?” I have a full house, a lot of love, and a very limited amount of patience for arguments about chores. My kids are smart — they know how to negotiate, delay, and conveniently forget whose turn it was last Tuesday. My partner and I were spending more time being referees than actually getting the house in order.
One Saturday, after a particularly creative round of “I did it last time,” I grabbed a piece of cardboard, drew a quick roulette wheel with all our names and chores, and said, “Let fate decide.” Everyone laughed. Then everyone spun. And surprisingly, everyone accepted the result. The complaining stopped. There was excitement, suspense, even cheering. The chore wheel took the blame off mom and dad and put it on chance — and chance, as it turns out, feels completely fair to kids and adults alike.
That cardboard wheel evolved into Whose Chore Is It? — Family Chore Roulette. I wanted to keep the same magic: simple, fast, silly, and absolutely fair. I built it to work for my own family first. No sign-ups that my kids would get stuck on. No data collection that would make me uncomfortable as a parent. No ads popping up with things they shouldn't see. I coded it late at night after the kids went to bed, tested it at the dinner table, and fixed it based on real eye-rolls from real teenagers. If it can survive my household, it can survive yours.
